About Mark
I'm Mark Cole, Principal at Mark Cole Consulting. I’m an executive coach and organizational consultant driven to make a meaningful impact in the world through my work in the social sector. With over thirty years of diverse leadership experience, I offer clients a blend of strategic wisdom and practical solutions. My journey includes a 17-year tenure as the Chief Operating Officer of New Door Ventures, a transformative youth employment and social enterprise organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. During my tenure, the organization grew from scrappy and underfunded to mature and well-resourced. My experience at New Door and in other leadership positions has afforded me a broad-based, first-hand knowledge of the challenges social sector organizations experience and the opportunities to meet those challenges.
As an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) in the International Coach Federation with a certification from the Co-Active Training Institute, I’m committed to coaching leaders to their highest potential and to bringing a coaching approach to all of my consulting work.
How I Work
I’ve spent my career building capacity for strategic growth and sustainability for social sector organizations and leaders. Whether it's a plan for growth, interim executive leadership, thought partnership, financial strategy, talent development, executive coaching, or a mix of all of those things, I love supporting leadership in addressing organizational challenges and building infrastructure that creates the foundation for greater impact.
My work always starts with discovery around the identified problem. I learn about the situation by listening to stakeholders and gathering other data. Based on this discovery, I’ll make recommendations and together we’ll craft a plan that will solve the problem and resources at hand. As we implement the plan, we’ll check in regularly, assess progress and change course as the situation demands.
Payment for my projects can be based on a retainer, hourly rate, or a not-to-exceed agreement.
